Meridiana Launches A New Wine

On Wednesday 30th July 2008 Meridiana Wine Estate launched a new wine within their portfolio - Astarte. It is a white wine blend based on the Vermentino grape, a variety which is ideal for Malta's climatic conditions.

As with Meridiana's other wine labels there is a link between the name Astarte and the region of origin. Astarte was the name of the Phoenician goddess of fertility worshipped in Malta during the Punic period.
Astarte is characterised by a crisp citrus and apricot like flavour and is a perfect summer wine for sipping by the pool side or to serve with a light lunch.
